Resources for finding a Belgian

Reputable breeders will require an application and possibly references or a home visit prior to placing a Belgian.  They should also be able to give you contact information for owners who have previously gotten a dog from them.

Some sites to check for rescue or rehome dogs:  NOTE THAT DOGS BELOW INCLUDE TERVS, MALINOIS & BELGIAN SHEEPDOGS!

One of the best sites to find either a puppy or adult is at http://www.belgians.com/dogs/

Litters and adult dogs are often advertised here.  Be aware that you may need to wait some time and/or travel to or ship a Belgian from another part of the country in order to get your dog or puppy.  They are not rare, but they are not common either.

Fortunately for the breed, there are not many Tervuren in rescue.  Belgian Malinois, the short-coated variety, are currently the most likely to be available in rescue.   The Belgian Tervuren Rescue contact for the Northwestern US is Janett Anson.  Her phone is 253-847-8677 and her email is Janett.anson@alaskaair.com.  The Rescue coordinator (nationally) for Tervs is Cindy Simonson in Wisconsin.  Her phone is 262-642-2286 or 262-723-4043 and her email is n2tervs@netwurz.net.
